No Struggle, No Progress
The Carver-McDonald Branch Library, located at 2941 Renwick St. in Monroe, LA, hosted an educational community program on Thursday, November 21, 2024. The session was presented by Ellen Moynihan of the Alzheimer's Association, who shared valuable information about the warning signs of Alzheimer's, dementia, and other related topics.
Attendees were treated to tea and muffins during the event and received a "Nothing Bundt Cake" to take home for dessert. The event was well-received, and participants are looking forward to future programs. Branch Manager Joyce Powell encourages the community to stay informed about Alzheimer's by learning the signs and understanding how the disease affects memory, thinking, and behavior. Topics covered during the program included:
(A) the difference between normal aging and Alzheimer's, (B) common warning signs, (C) the importance of early detection and the benefits of diagnosis, (D) next steps in the diagnostic process and maintaining healthy brain habits, and (E) Alzheimer's Association resources available to the public. Additional information on dementia and strategies for responding to challenging behaviors was also provided.
