No Struggle, No Progress

Attack the Black Man?

This year has been incredibly eventful, filled with breaking news, unexpected losses, revelations, and separations, but nothing has stirred as much emotion as the 2024 presidential election.

It has been exhausting to witness. Differences of opinion over this election have divided families, lifelong friends, church communities, and more. Many have chosen to part ways, but nothing surprised me more than this new wave of criticism toward Black men. Some Black and Brown women have joined a misguided and divisive movement against men. Why is this even a consideration? Black men need our support now as much as ever. This is not the time to abandon them, especially over political differences. Many are weary of broken promises that, honestly, we women sometimes find comfort in hearing. These men are fathers, brothers, educators, protectors, providers, and more; just because they didn’t follow the crowd in their vote doesn’t diminish their value. To those this may concern: Black women, please seek wisdom and clarity through prayer. How will joining a Black man-bashing trend genuinely help the future generations you claim to care so deeply about? Wake up! This is unproductive. The idea of “going on strike” against ourselves is absurd. If you’re that eager for representation, then stand up and represent!
