No Struggle, No Progress
By Eddie D. Gillis
There were high hopes, high expectations for the future, and a continuation of the nation moving forward. " We're not going back" was the rallying cry for millions of people who believed that America was about to make history again. America will not have her first woman president (for now, vice will have to do), but instead give the keys to the White House back to the one person who may be regarded as someone who showed no respect for the office. November 5, 2024 will be a day that will be written about by historians trying to explain the phenomenon known as Donald Trump. They will try to explain how one man could affect the hearts/minds of so many people who believed that he was nothing short of the Second Coming for America. "Make America Great Again" was his message and just like the Gospels, millions not only loved the message, but the messenger also. How else could one explain that no matter what Trump was accused of doing or found guilty of, the people that believed in him stood by him. In the coming days/weeks, many commentators in the media will give every conceivable reason why Democrats lost even though Kamala Harris was more than qualified to be president. It really came down to one thing as to why Trump won and why the trend for conservatives may continue. In just about every situation in life, there is a line that we all will face regarding decisions that we make. It is the same for voters. The polls indicated that the race was close, but in reality, the voters in the so-called red states had Trump all the way. It was the swing states that made the difference. Why call them swing states when voters make the decision to "cross the line" and vote the other way. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, Donald Trump will be the next president, and the world will wait and see if he keeps his promises. If he doesn't, then he would have lied to his supporters. The nation is heading in a different direction and if more "Donald Trumps" emerge from the Republican party as more people tend to lean (crossing the line) conservative, the results from November 5 will remain the same. The voters determine the direction of where the nation goes, as they just sent a clear message to the world that they want Donald Trump to lead them. What happens afterwards is up to Trump. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
