No Struggle, No Progress
Chicago, Illinois-March 31, 1955
Charles Evers of Philadelphia, MS has told of an incredible campaign of economic harassment. Evers brother of NCA NAACP. Mississippi field secretary, Medgar Evers, owned several businesses. The trouble began on one of his local radio shows. He urged negroes to vote. Guests in his hotel were threatened, his taxi licenses were revoked, the lease on his restaurant was cancelled, and advertisers boycotted the station.
Evers was forced to leave and move to Chicago.
Taken from Black Chronicles
" Pleasant Words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones " (Proverbs 17:24)
We see how WORDS destroyed Medgar Evers businesses. Words can build or destroy. Any candidate that uses words to discredit, demonize, or defame others, puts them in harm’s way. This reminds me of the coo- coo- bird, which is loud, annoying, and very irritating. The Coo- Coo- bird lays their eggs in other birds’ nests, when the eggs hatch, more Coo-Coo- birds are produced to put others down, and kill their hopes, and dreams.
Medgar Evers didn't only lose his businesses. He lost his life. This doesn't stop with our generation it continues on to the next generations.
Let's use everything we have in our power to stop these irritating Coo-Coo- birds.
