No Struggle, No Progress
I was listening to a man recently, and it made me reflect deeply on my husband, dad, brothers, and men in general. For as long as I can remember, I’ve witnessed men being told to "take it like a man."
By that, I mean males have often been instructed to be tough and suppress their emotions, as if showing any feelings was a sign of weakness.
But that approach has harmed many. So today, I want any man reading this, if it pertains to you, to take this apology like a man: I apologize to you, who were once boys, trying to express that you were hurt, broken, scared, disappointed, or sad, but were told to be quiet and stop whining. I apologize that you were told your tears meant you weren't strong. I’m sorry you had to pretend to be okay when you weren't. I apologize that you had to grow up too fast, for whatever reason.
For every tear you held back, every feeling you didn’t express, and all the pain you've bottled up inside, I apologize. I pray that you will heal, grow stronger, and be better. You are needed. You matter. You are valued. You are strong. We need you to survive and
