According to Monroe Police, officers were present at the Carroll High School Homecoming parade and block party held on September 19, 2024. Officers reported that one of the suspects, later identified as 25-year-old Keyshawn Lenard, was observed walking eastbound on Renwick St. when a handgun was allegedly seen in Lenard's front pocket. As officers approached Lenard, he proceeded to the Lillie Marbles Recreation Center parking lot. Lenard allegedly fled westward but was apprehended by officers. According to authorities, a loaded Glock 19 with one round in the chamber was removed from Lenard's front waistband.

Officers also made contact with 23-year-old Donatarious Wade at the school function after he was allegedly observed with the handle of a black revolver sticking out of his left pants pocket. The weapon was removed from his possession. Both suspects were arrested and taken to Ouachita Correctional Center (OCC). Lenard was charged with Carrying a Firearm on School Property at a School-Sponsored Function, Possession of a Firearm or Carrying a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of a Felony, and Resisting an Officer.
