Children Sexual Assault

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Crimes of sexual assault continue to be a serious concern in the community, as reports of the alleged criminal activity leave families devastated. What was once considered an adult-on-adult concern for law enforcement to grasp, we see more and more reports of children being victims of sexual assault, where race and gender are not separate and where the victims seem to be getting younger. According to authorities at the Monroe Police Department (MPD), a local man is behind bars for allegedly sexually assaulting three female children with whom he was allegedly in a relationship. According to MPD, an investigation began on September 12, 2024 when an informant of three children shared that 25-year-old Jonathan Spearman reportedly confessed to her about his alleged sordid relationship with the children. The children ranged in age from six to thirteen years of age. The couple were alleged to have been in a 12-year relationship, over which time the alleged assaults took place. The suspect is alleged to have sexually assaulted two of the children that he and the informant shared and one child that they did not share. Details from MPD indicate that the alleged suspect had intercourse with the 13-year-old over a span of several years while allegedly confessing that he "felt on" the younger victims. Spearman was charged with Three Counts of Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile and Crime against Nature. Bond was set at $400,000.
