Fatal Hit-in-Run

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A Texas man is under arrest for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident in Monroe LA. Law enforcement authorities from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office said that the accident that resulted in a fatality occurred on Friday August 1, 2024 on Sterlington Road. Officials said that 28-year-old Billterrious Lewis allegedly crashed his vehicle into the victim while he was crossing Sterlington Road. The unidentified (as of press time) was pronounced dead by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office. Lewis allegedly left the scene without calling for emergency assistance or providing medical aid to the victim, according to authorities. Officials said that Lewis returned to the scene about 20 minutes later, and allegedly admitted to hitting the victim and leaving the scene. The report also stated that Lewis's eyes were bloodshot red, as his speech was slurred. He allegedly also had a strong scent of alcohol on his breath. Official1 said that he failed the Standardized Field Sobriety Test. Lewis was booked into OOCC (Ouachita Correctional Center) charged with Hit and Run Driving: Death or Serious Bodily Injury and Vehicular Homicide. There are three sides to every story.
