No Struggle, No Progress
We live in a world where the unimaginable can occur at any moment, without warning. These incidents serve as a reminder to always remain vigilant. As time passes, it seems that acts of violence become increasingly severe. For those who have lived more than 60 years, the violence today is more horrific than ever before.
An 11-year-old boy is in custody after confessing to the fatal shooting of former Minden interim mayor Joe Cornelius Sr., 82, and his daughter, Keisha Miles, 31. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, September 1, 2024, in Minden, LA, a town east of Shreveport. Cornelius and Miles were found with multiple gunshot wounds inside Cornelius's home. Investigators reported that two handguns, hidden on the property, were used in the killings. The boy, believed to be related to the victims (son and grandson), was accompanied by his grandmother when he admitted to the shootings.
Cornelius was a respected community leader known for his involvement in youth programs and local Black history initiatives. The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities continue to investigate the devastating incident involving such a young suspect.
