No Struggle, No Progress

Loose Tongue Will Sink Trump

Donald Trump is an individual who marches to the beat of his own drum, even if it is just in his head. He is a "my way or the highway" kind of person who is always telling himself that his way is the best way. Even as his presidential campaign is stuck in neutral. If one listens to him at one of his rallies he is up bigly in the polls, he is drawing ten times the crowds that Vice President Kamala Harris has and he is going to make America great again. Never mind that he doesn't say how he will make America great again, but if one keeps playing the same record over and over, pretty soon people will hear it and not hear it. Why should Trump tell his supporters how he will make their lives and the nation better than President Joe Biden when he can go on calling his opponents insulting names, drawing cheers from his base? The other day, instead of telling his supporters how he will solve the immigration issue, Trump said that he "is better looking" than Vice President Harris. The crowd went wild. We have to remember that this is coming from the mouth of a 78-year-old man whose handsome looks are well behind him, and yet in the middle of a presidential campaign, he wants to talk about beauty. Why not brag about how beautiful his wife is? Oh, lest we forget, she is nowhere to be seen with Trump leaving him on his own. The insults keep coming from Trump whether it is at a rally or on social media, while his running mate J.D. Vance is not bringing in any new voters, as some in conservative media are having second thoughts about Trump selecting someone who has only a couple of years of political experience that was widely unheard of because he came to Congress two years ago. Vance is not pulling in young or minority voters leaving Trump to "wing it" at campaign rallies making rambling speeches that cater to the base. Trump is still flat-footed in his campaign since Harris and her running mate Tim Walz have taken the nation by storm as the Democratic base has been fully rejuvenated by their chances of keeping the White House and possible control of Congress. In the meantime, Trump has no policy or new messages to bring to voters, the folks over at Fox are starting to panic, and even the retreads such as Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee and yes, Bill Riley can't bring in any energy to a campaign that is in need of a serious boost. Only one man can perhaps change the course of his campaign, but his mouth will not allow that. He has been insulting people politically since he questioned Barack Obama's birthright, and even those in the Republican Party (Rafael "Ted" Cruz, "Little" Marco Rubio) because it seems to be in his nature. Maybe one of those conservative pastors who has all but endorsed Trump should remind him of how the tongue can bring a man down. He might listen to them. And then…Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
