No Struggle, No Progress
Carroll High School is about to begin their 2024 football season under New Head Football Coach Marvin Williams. That is news, one might say. But when it is the school's fifth head coach over the last four years, it becomes more than just news. And when the newly hired coach is there on an interim basis, it might be difficult to field a team to keep the "revolving door" at Carroll from turning if the upcoming season is not a success. You will not find that sentiment among Carroll Football Players who have fully embraced former player and alum Marvin Williams who will roam the sidelines as their coach. Williams has hit the ground running, as it shows in his team who is happy with Williams because he knows them and the school so well. He addressed the adversity that the school has faced over the last four years, but said that his team will face it, as it will make the team stronger as the season goes on. The fact that Williams being their fifth coach is not dwindling the optimism that is expressed by team players. They know that Williams being a former player, is about to fulfill a dream that few former players get to do, lead his team to a successful season and hopefully the championship trophy. The players are supportive of Williams and share his optimism that with each game, things will get better, one game at a time. The players are happy even though Williams is there on an "interim" basis, the kids who are seniors won't have to worry about learning a new system if someone outside of Carroll had been hired. That will help them to stay as a cohesive unit, so that when the adversity in the season arrives, they know that as a team they will overcome it, reminding the Carroll Fan Base and their opponents that Carroll Bulldog Football is back.
