No Struggle, No Progress
Republican Vice-Presidential candidate J. D. Vance of Ohio should have been taking notes when Mike Pence was Donald Trump's Vice President. When Pence agreed to become Trump's running mate, did he do it for love of country while ignoring the fact that the man he was willing to govern with, was a man who questioned the birthright of the nation's first Black president? Or did he forget the meaning of his so-called "family values" platform, as he watched Trump say all manner of things about Rafael "Ted" Cruz's wife and father back in 2015? Plus did Vance notice how "concerned" Trump was when the mob stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, and didn't seem to care about the safety of the Vice President and members of Congress? We're not talking about the concern for the officers who risked their lives (even the dead), for it was non-existent. And then there was the time when Vance, like Cruz says things about Trump that were not pleasant, but were in a way truthful. That was then, this is now. Vance's decision to accept Trump's offer to be his running mate all but assures that he has crossed over into MAGA from which there is no turning back. Just ask Rafael Cruz and Lindsay Graham. Now that the stage is set for the final months of the election, Vance is soon finding out that the shoe is on the other foot after seeing that his wife who is of Indian descent, is being attacked for her ethnicity much like Kamala Harris is. However, Vance, who had no problem referring to Harris as a "DEI hire" and calling into question her bi-racial culture is livid because his wife is suffering the same fate. Vance saw that starting to happen at the Republican convention when the nation learned that Vance had a wife who was not white, as his children are not considered to be white. That goes against many in the Republican party who are hard-core Trump supporters who claimed that immigrants are "poisoning the blood" of America in a push to make white people a minority in America. That's one of the reasons why Republicans, especially Trump and Vance don't want to talk about "Project 2025", but look for it to come up during the debates. Vance is angry for what is said about his wife, but he refuses to lash out at those who are critical of his wife because they are the MAGA base, Trump supporters/voters. He knows Democrats don't go down that road, and he also knows that he has to temper his "anger" and words because Trump is listening. The fact that Trump has not told the base to "lighten up", nor has he heard from Nikki Haley who is also of Indian descent for the harsh words to stop, should tell Vance that he has to sacrifice his dignity and integrity to satisfy Donald Trump. We can wonder how Vance is going to explain his actions to his children when they are old enough to know why he did what he did in 2024. Nonetheless, Vance in an outburst, said that to those criticizing his wife, that she "is out of their league", something an elitist might say. Nevertheless there are no "elitists" in MAGA land, only in liberal circles. Right? Perhaps they haven't seen any photos of Trump's Mar-a-Lago in Florida, a place where poor people are yet to be invited. Vance has made his bed, and he doesn't seem to be too comfortable in it. He could have kept on staying in his senate seat doing what he has done best for the state of Ohio. Many have said nothing. He still may have a future left in politics left after November, but he should have asked Mike Pence if he should have accepted the nomination. He made his bed. Remember, the world is watching. So is God
