No Struggle, No Progress

City Schools' Electric Buses

The Monroe City School Board is taking a significant step toward a greener, more sustainable future with the addition of 20 state-of-the-art electric buses to their transportation fleet. Each bus, valued at $400,000, represents a commitment to improving the quality of life for students across the district. Five of the buses have already arrived, with the remainder expected soon, thanks to nearly $8 million in funding from the EPA's Clean Bus Program. Aside from the initial purchase, the district invested only about $12,000 per bus for air conditioning, totaling $240,000 for the entire fleet. This transition is anticipated to not only support environmental goals but also lower maintenance and fuel expenses for the district's approximately 90-bus fleet.
