Berg Jones Lane Shooting Child Shot

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The sound of gunfire is terrifying to hear. The sound of it can instantly send a feeling of fear and even that of dread, knowing that a life might hang in the balance. Adults usually can cope/fend for themselves if they are able to when they hear the sound of gunfire. But what about those who are unable to, such as a 6-year-old child? According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, on August 13, Jamarion Jalil Godfrey 18, was arrested on four counts of Attempted Second Degree Murder. The arrest was in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on Berg Jones Lane in Monroe LA on August 12, 2024. Authorities said an 8-year-old child seated in a vehicle with his mother and two other occupants were shot in both legs. The child was treated a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Other suspects allegedly are involved as the investigation is ongoing as of press time.
