When thinking of victims of sexual abuse, it is often assumed to be male-on-female, though such crimes can occur in various forms, including female-on-female and male-to-male. Regardless of the circumstances, sexual abuse is wrong. A Monroe man is now behind bars, accused not only of robbing an individual but also of sexually assaulting that person.
According to the West Monroe Police Department (WMPD), officers responded to a report of an armed robbery on South 5th Street on July 6, 2024. After interviewing the victim, officers received a description of the suspect and his direction of departure. They subsequently located the alleged suspect, identified as 24-year-old Charmon Hubbard.
Reports indicate that Hubbard allegedly confessed to robbing someone at his South 5th St. apartment and admitted to having a firearm on him. A handgun was found in his left jacket pocket, unloaded and reported stolen. Hubbard allegedly claimed that he had purchased the gun, along with other items, from the streets, including items taken from the victim during the alleged robbery.
The victim told officers that he had met Hubbard on a dating app and was invited to his apartment. The victim reported that he complied with Hubbard's demands and handed over everything he had when Hubbard brandished a handgun. Hubbard allegedly held the gun to the victim's head, forcing him to perform oral sex. Hubbard reportedly became distracted, allowing the victim to escape and contact the police.
Hubbard was arrested and charged with Armed Robbery, Illegal Possession of Stolen Things, Illegal Possession of Stolen Firearms, 1st Degree Rape, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies. According to reports, Hubbard is a convicted felon for using a stolen cell phone to purchase a $1,100 iPhone on Amazon. He also faces charges of Identity Theft over $1,100.
