No Struggle, No Progress

Shooting, Trump's Path to Victory?

Did Donald Trump have a "come to Jesus" moment Saturday when he narrowly missed death by centimeters as a bullet grazed his right ear. This reporter does not make light of what happened at Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania, because though Trump survived, an innocent victim lost his life. Much will be said about the shooter as more information becomes available. It is moments like these that remind us that life is a fleeting entity and can end in an instant. No one was probably thinking that a campaign rally would end without Trump stating his usual rhetoric to get his message across that President Joe Biden is a "weak" president and that his presidency is a disaster for the nation. Trump's near-death experience and how he responds will be closely watched until election day. Immediately after the shooting, President Biden went on nation-wide television telling the nation and the world what has been said many times after a tragic shooting, saying, "it's not who we are as a nation. It's not America and we cannot allow this to happen". Biden also announced an independent review of the security apparatus as he condemned the shooting. Trump, on the other hand came out with a similar statement on social media saying, "In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to win. I truly love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation at the convention". Very untypical for Trump to speak like that, which might suggest that his aides may have told him to show "a softer, nicer side" if he is to change his DNA in order to woo the undecided voters. By the time readers peruse over these words, the convention will be over and as the moderator on the old "I Got A Secret" show will say, "Will the Real Donald Trump please stand up?", letting us see how much (if any) Donald Trump has changed. How much of the blame game from conservatives like J.D. Vance, Margie Taylor-Greene will subside because as of now, the vast majority of voters have made up their minds. Both candidates will be going through the motion crisscrossing each other across the nation touting why they should be in the White House. They said that a leopard "can't change its spots", meaning that we will know if Trump truly had a come-to-Jesus moment. Don't be surprised if some evangelical leaders again come to Trump's rescue saying that Trump's "escape" from death is a sign that he is "anointed" to be president. For the moment, the ball is in Trump’s court. How he plays it will tell us what most already suspect. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
