PPW Signing Off From Labor to Reward

Foster Wilhite Jr., affectionately known as "PPW" The Blues Nightmare, was a cherished icon in the Monroe, LA community. His musical journey began at 1109 Hudson Lane, where he first collaborated with partners in rhythm. From his early days to his last, PPW's unwavering character and dedication shone brightly. The legendary J.K. McCoy, the first on-air personality to introduce Majic 97 FM, helped establish "The Soul of the City" with a powerful presence. Soon after, Rob Lloyd joined the midday journey, bringing the R&B musical truth to Monroe. PPW, already a local club legend, brought his unique flair to the airwaves, alongside other radio legends like Tony Blake and Erick Lydell.

PPW's influence extended far beyond his radio persona. Known for his signature phrase, "Good Lawd," he brought joy to countless listeners. His spirit and passion for music were unmatched, making his presence on the radio a treasured memory for many. PPW's dedication to his craft and community was evident in his success as a disc jockey and entrepreneur, running three nightclubs and a restaurant. His warmth and genuine affection for people ensured he was beloved and respected by all who knew him.

Foster Wilhite Jr. passed away on July 3, 2024, leaving a legacy of love, music, and community spirit. He is survived by his mother, Annie Wilhite; his wife, Lora Wilhite; his children, Foster Wilhite III, Tameka Myles (RaShun), Rhonda Clayton (Ronnie), Brandon Wilhite, Jarvis Wilhite (Kristina), and Courtney Armstard; his stepsons, Marcus Degrate and Eric Rogers; his siblings, Millie Atkins, Shirley Wilder (Dean), Letha Owens (Gary), and Charles Wilhite (Diane); sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Greater Free Gift Baptist Church, 5510 US Hwy 165 South, Monroe, LA, with visitation on Friday, July 12, 2024, 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the same location. Burial will be in Richwood Memorial Gardens, Richwood, LA. Services are under the direction of McFarland Funeral Companies, Monroe, LA.
