Before the vote, Councilwoman Gretchen Ezernack opposed the resolution, questioning the reasoning behind it and expressing concerns that it could delay city projects. Others see it as a long-overdue change at city hall, addressing concerns within the community that the Ellis administration has seemed inaccessible at times. Complaints have been made about harsh treatment when trying to get answers or even having a sit-down with the mayor, unless surrounded by a group of people.
