No Struggle, No Progress

July 4th Shooting

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It was a hot, humid Fourth of July, which is not uncommon for Louisiana. Finding shade under a tree or having the AC on is priority number one until the evening fireworks start. That doesn't include gunfire. According to the Monroe Police Department (MPD), officers on the H.E.A.T. Team responded to shots being fired while working a detail for the Monroe Housing Authority at the Foster Heights location. A suspect was spotted in possession of a firearm during the time of the shooting. Officers said that the alleged shooter, identified as Anthony Lowery, ran into an apartment. An alleged altercation ensued as Lowery pushed back against officers. He was arrested and charged with Resisting a Police Officer with Force or Violence, Illegal Use of a Weapon, Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling, Obstruction of Justice, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
