No Struggle, No Progress
Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NEDHSA) has partnered with the Black Creative Circle of North Louisiana (BCCNL) to host a free summer art workshop on June 17-27, 2024. This art workshop allows youth to learn the art of collage making, painting, drawing, and other creative activities as an expressive art form. Art workshops are open to ages 9-14. Limited spots are available, and the camp will take place at Sugar Gallery, 131 Art Alley in Downtown Monroe. Art Is Medicine special initiative, an integrated health care, evidence-based prevention, communications, and treatment strategy to help serve persons with mental health, addictive disorders, and developmental disabilities. BCCNL is an artist think tank designed to nurture, encourage, and discuss art-related issues with North Louisiana artisans from the African Diaspora. BCCNL encompasses animators, cartoonists, designers, filmmakers, graphic designers, illustrators, painters, photographers, printmakers, poets, orators, screenwriters, sculptors, stylists, and writers. "We are always looking to introduce and expose the next generation to art because of how the arts can help you feel more alive. We're just so thankful to the HSA for believing in our vision and believing in the arts to remove any barrier a child or family might have to keep them from being a part of this workshop." said BCCNL President Vitus Shell.
