No Struggle, No Progress

Murphy Shooting Arrests Complete

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. When Kilarious Owens was taken into custody by law enforcement authorities on May 6, 2024, it signaled the end of numerous searches for the alleged suspects involved in a local shooting. All of the suspects were allegedly involved in the Murphy gas station shooting at the Walmart store on Louisville Ave around Easter time this year. The shooting shocked the community because of the brazen attitude of the alleged suspects, as there were many shoppers and motorists in the area when gunfire rang out, causing panic. Owens was one of the last suspects to be captured by officers when it was revealed that he was hiding in Sterlington, LA, ten miles north of Monroe. Acting on information that Owens was at a residence on Jax Square in Sterlington, authorities descended on the residence where contact was made with an occupant. Officers encountered 23-year-old Omyah Y. Floyd, and a search of the residence located Owens in the bedroom, where he was arrested along with Floyd. Floyd was charged with Accessories after the Fact. He was taken to Ouachita Correctional Center (OCC) but has since been released as of June 7, 2024, after posting a $2,500 bond. Owens had already been sought on two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story. The Monroe Dispatch welcomes another or the other side of this story.
