No Struggle, No Progress

Elm Street Shooting

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A man sought in connection with an April 22, 2024, shooting on Elm St. has been arrested and is now behind bars. According to Monroe Police (MPD), officers arrested Zacherian Logan as the suspect in the shooting, which caused bystanders, including adults and children, to scramble for safety. On the day of the alleged shooting, Logan and three other female suspects were seen searching for and surrounding a female victim, leading to a fight between the suspects and the victim. As the female suspects engaged in the fight, Logan was seen on video allegedly pushing away bystanders who tried to intervene. He was allegedly walking around the scene with his hand inside his jacket pocket, wearing a black shirt, jacket, and shorts, and carrying a handgun with an extended magazine. During the altercation, the victim, with help from bystanders, managed to reach her vehicle. Logan allegedly began firing in the direction of the victim's vehicle and others as she attempted to flee the scene. The victim's vehicle was reportedly hit by gunfire five times. Meanwhile, another individual returning home in her vehicle saw the fleeing victim approaching at a high rate of speed and tried to avoid a collision. This individual, identified as Victim 5, crashed her vehicle into the apartment complex gate, causing extensive damage to it and sustaining a 2-3 inch laceration from the release of the airbags. Logan allegedly entered a vehicle with the female suspects and was seen exiting it with his hand still inside his pocket. Officers noted that the vehicle Logan exited was allegedly the same one used in a March 2024 shooting at the Walmart on Louisville Ave. in Monroe, LA. At the scene, there were children between ages 1-5 years, some not of walking age, being held by adults as they took cover to avoid the gunfire. Before Logan's arrest, he was observed on social media wearing the same clothes he was wearing at the apartment complex and holding the handgun. He was also allegedly in a photo on social media at the Kingsway Apartments. Logan was booked on charges of Terrorism, Negligent Injuring, Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property, and Attempted Second Degree Murder. Two of the three female suspects with Logan were arrested and allegedly confessed to charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Battery, and Rioting.
