No Struggle, No Progress

Money Trial Delays Trump

By Eddie D. Gillis

Donald Trump is at a huge disadvantage in the current state of the 2024 presidential race. While President Joe Biden is celebrating a huge win in Congress with aid going to Ukraine, and cracking jokes at the White House Correspondents Dinner, an annual event in Washington, Trump is looking at a jury of his peers who will decide if he is guilty of violating campaign laws. Trump probably believed that he would never face Stormy Daniels in a courtroom over money that he had paid to two women that he had affairs with before he became president. Trump still denies that he paid what is called :hush-money" to the women through his ex-attorney Michael Cohen and a man by the name of David Pecker. The money was allegedly paid to keep the women quiet so that his chances of winning the 2016 presidential election would not be hampered by rumors of any salacious conduct by the then candidate. Many thought that even as Daniel's brought her story to the public years ago, no one thought that Trump would end up in court,

But New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg thought differently and with the cooperation of Cohen who had the receipts of what Trump tried to hide including doing time in prison, Trump finds himself in serious legal jeopardy. Even as the Supreme Court may rule before the elections if Trump has immunity from prosecution, he is losing valuable time out on the campaign trail. He may be tweeting as a way to communicate with his supporters/base, but it is not the same as holding a rally and telling them what they want to hear. No matter how many times Trump will say that the election "was stolen" and it "was rigged", or that President Biden "is crooked and weak", he needs to as they say, "press the flesh" on the campaign trail. The testimony said thus far is not vindicating Trump, as details emerge that even Wife Melanie doesn't want to hear. In the meantime, the Republican Party continues to implode in Washington, as the knives are coming out against Mike Johnson on one side and Margie Taylor Greene on the other side. Even Fox News seems not to have it's influence to shape voters' opinions outside of the conservative base as the election nears. Are the political chickens "coming home to roost"?. Many are hoping that Trump's goose is cooked. But this is America and its politics at work where the bedfellows have never been stranger. Anything can happen. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
