No Struggle, No Progress

Teacher's Devastating Death

April 8, 1986-April 26, 2024

"I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me."

Cherteria Kennedy, 38, was a beloved resident of Monroe, LA, known for her nurturing spirit and dedication to her family, students, and community. As a proud mother of three and a graduate of McNeese State University, she found her calling as a teacher at Roy N. Shelling Elementary School, where she touched countless lives with her kindness and compassion.

Kennedy's impact extended far beyond the classroom, as she cherished moments spent with her loved ones, exploring new places, and unleashing her creativity through arts and crafts. Her genuine love and unwavering support left an enduring mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

On Friday, April 26, 2024, Kennedy peacefully transitioned into eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Though we grapple with unanswered questions, we find solace in the knowledge that God, in His infinite mercy, offers comfort and peace to those who mourn.

Funeral services to celebrate Kennedy's life will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Woodlawn Baptist Church, 306 N. Oak St. in Rayville, LA. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation on Friday, May 3, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at New Direction West, 603 N 4th St. in West Monroe, LA. During this time of grief, we humbly ask for prayers and support for Kennedy's grieving family.
