No Struggle, No Progress
Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. The Monroe Police Department (MPD) has announced the arrest of two more individuals who were allegedly involved in the shooting at a Murphy gas station in Monroe. The shooting, which occurred on March 29, 2024 at the Walmart located on Louisville Ave. and Lamy Ln. and left two people injured, comes as a relief to the community.
MPD stated that the arrest of Terrikiris Smith and Tristan Barber follows the arrest of Jaylen Webster on April 14, 2024. According to MPD, Smith and Barber were both arrested on April 16, 2024, two days after Webster's arrest. Both suspects were charged with two counts of Attempted Second-Degree Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.
Barber is also facing additional Attempted Second-Degree Murder charges for two other shootings in which he is allegedly involved. MPD is said to be searching for two other suspects, who have been identified as Roderick Brass and Kildarious Owens, for their alleged involvement in the shooting. According to MPD, all of the individuals arrested so far are said to be YNN gang members.
It is unfortunate that shootings are occurring with increasing frequency in public places. These tragic events not only result in loss of life but also instill fear and insecurity in communities. The rise in such incidents highlights the urgent need for effective measures to address the underlying causes of violence. Our thoughts are with all those affected by these senseless acts.
