No Struggle, No Progress

Know, Respect, and Obey Laws

The regular Louisiana State Legislative session began on Monday, March 11, 2024, and citizens are urged to pray for guidance as lawmakers debate and vote on bills. Several "Get Tough on Crime" bills are under consideration that will impact youth, and these bills are expected to pass into law.

Parents are urged to pay close attention to these bills as they could directly affect their children. It is important to discuss these new laws with your children and ensure they understand the need to respect and obey them. Failure to do so will result in serious consequences.

Start early by teaching your children to obey simple laws such as the Truancy Law and the Curfew Law. Familiarize yourself with these laws by visiting the Louisiana State Legislature website, http://www.legis.la.gov, where they are located under various committees.

Addressing the crime crisis requires the collective effort of state and local officials, faith-based communities, and parents. It is essential to start educating children about obeying laws early to prevent them from making bad decisions later on.

For questions, please contact your state legislators' district offices.
