No Struggle, No Progress

Delta Community College Protest Continues

A local community couple says that their protest of working conditions allegedly occurring at Delta Community College in Monroe LA will continue, saying that the community needs to be aware of what their go through on a daily basis. Robert and Samantha Jordan started their protest several weeks ago after she was terminated from her job, followed by her husband being place on administrative leave pending an investigation into alleged threats against employees and creating a hostile work environment. Robert said that he has "seen too many things" occur at Delta such as where an employee was allegedly "forced to resign" because of unfair treatment.

When the protest first began, They were encountered by law enforcement at the campus and were threatened with arrest from school officials. But Robert and Samantha asserted to law enforcement and school officials that they were well within their constitutional rights to stage the protest to bring attention to the conditions that they witnessed including incidents that has happened to them.

Robert has filed a formal grievance against Delta Community College and requesting a formal investigation of several officials for "creating a hostile work environment", the same of which he is on leave. Those officials that Jordan alleges for creating a hostile work environment include the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, Human Resources and Adult Education. Jordan said that he is under doctor's orders for work related stress and anxiety, which was allegedly disregarded by one official. Jordan's grievance also extends to those officials that he says all have created a hostile work environment allegedly through retaliation tactics. Jordan asks the question, how can he be accused of creating a hostile work environment if he is not there at the school. Jordan is also allegedly accused of " deliberate acts of humiliation, harassment, and embarrassment acts" against employees because of their weight. The Jordans said that they are determined to see this situation through to a conclusion because of what has happened, the school has zero tolerance for retaliation. In the meantime, Jordan wants those officials removed from their duties and all portions with Delta, or be suspended until a formal investigation can be conducted. But he said, the protests will continue.
