Fight Bystander Cut

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Most of us are taught to help someone when we see them in a situation where they might be in need. That kind of teaching perhaps goes back to the biblical account of The Good Samaritan, where a person in need was passed over by those who could have done something. Since then, people have done things for others in need, sometimes to the peril of their own safety. A local woman who was said to have acted in a similar manner was allegedly injured while coming to the aid of another person. According to law enforcement, at approximately 6:21 PM on March 13, 2024, Monroe Police officers responded to a location on Richwood Rd. in reference to a reported knife cut. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim who advised them that she sustained a cut from a knife while trying to break up a fight.

The victim said that the fight was between the alleged suspect and several other individuals who were also involved. The report indicated that officers observed a large laceration on the victim's right arm. The victim had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. While on the scene, officers were contacted by the Monroe Fire Department and advised that the suspect, identified as Sandra Denise Allen, was at the fire department to turn herself in; when officers made contact with Allen, she allegedly advised them that she was attacked by a large group of people, causing her to swing her knife and cut the victim. Officers allege that the suspect disposed of the knife in some nearby woods and fled on foot. Allen was arrested and charged with Aggravated Second-Degree Battery and Obstruction of Justice.
