No Struggle, No Progress
In a triumphant return to glory, Wossman High School Boys Basketball team has shattered a 16-year dry spell by clinching the Louisiana State Basketball Championship. The last time the school achieved this feat was in 2008 when Davarius Dunn, a standout player, led the team to victory and was named MVP. Now, in 2024, the torch has been passed to Krysten Lewis, who has emerged as the new MVP. The entire Wossman community is buzzing with excitement as they remember Dunn's MVP run and celebrate Krysten Lewis as the new torch bearer. Their stellar performances on the court have brought immense pride to the school and its supporters.
The crowning moment came when Wossman Boys Basketball secured the LHSAA Division II Non-Select Basketball State title, prevailing over Iowa, 70-65. The intense showdown unfolded on Friday, March 8, 2024, at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, LA, marking a historic milestone for the team.
Reflecting on his journey, Davarius Dunn, who went on to play basketball for Southern University in Shreveport, offered words of wisdom to Lewis and aspiring young athletes. He emphasized the importance of faith, hard work, and gratitude, urging them never to lose sight of their goals.
