No Struggle, No Progress

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR MAYOR

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR MAYOR

I have been asked many times why I wanted to be mayor again, and the answer is simple... I am touched by the feelings of infirmities of the people of Monroe. I am touched by the concerns of all the people of Monroe, but especially the most vulnerable people, the elderly, and the youth. For the last four years, I have worked for the National League of Cities/SSCI (Strong Southern Cities Initiative). Louisiana is one of the impoverished states listed in this initiative because of poverty and crime statistics. I have collaborated within this group and introduced measures that were consistent with improving the outcomes of vulnerable populations. I plan on bringing that strategy back to Monroe.

I have been asked what I plan to do when I get back in office. I plan on installing 1000 summer jobs for the youth as a preventative proactive measure to both nurture and train our children while instilling a strong work ethic. I plan on ensuring that our children are fed in the summertime. I plan on partnering with local small businesses, especially SEDD and the Black Chamber of Commerce, to ensure that the economy of our community begins to rise and, as a result, our young Millennials will feel the need to invest and stay in their community. I plan on creating task forces to tackle the insurmountable problems of mental health and youth addiction. I plan on creating a task force to create viable plans for housing insecurity among our elderly population. During this term, I will concentrate on creating better quality of life solutions for all of Monroe.

During my previous term, I was able to implement solutions for our financial security and was very successful, leaving office with an excess of 14 million. During this term, I will concentrate on elevating Monroe from #1 in crime and poverty to # 1 in increased quality of life.

In times past, I have offended people for one thing or another. I have made mistakes, no doubt, but I recognize how important it is to have my community's support because without you, I could never be successful. This term, my administration will be built from the grassroots upward. I plan on mentoring the next generation of leaders from among our own. I need you. Let's work together to rebuild a better Monroe built on sustainable promises.

I am Jamie Mayo... Let's keep Monroe alive, vote #25!
