No Struggle, No Progress
Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee……. We have heard the saying, “Ignorance is bliss”. Well, what is ignorance? What is bliss? Ignorance is simply a lack of knowledge or information/not knowing. Bliss is perfect happiness/great joy. Now let’s consider this carefully. This statement is saying that having a lack of knowledge about things, is a cause to be happy, but the Word of God tells us that people perish from a lack of knowledge (the very definition of ignorance). How blissful then is perishing (suffering death)? Ignorance has a price tag that’s way too expensive. It’s honestly, in my opinion, the most expensive bill in the world. It has caused many untimely deaths, sudden loss and missed opportunities. It has caused missed blessings, unnecessary battles and unwarranted wars. Ignorance is NOT bliss; it’s senseless. The more we study and learn, grow in wisdom and apply it, the better we become personally and for those around us. Our families and communities don’t need more ignorance. We need more people growing in wisdom, knowledge and discernment. This will lead to better leadership, more accountability, more justice and greater service for those who have no voice or little knowledge. Wearing ignorance as a badge of honor, is dishonorable and a disservice to all assigned to us. We need more bold and courageous citizens and leaders, who KNOW how to get things done- decently, orderly and equitably. Stop celebrating ignorance. It’s an expensive bill, that’s left our communities and nation “broke”.
