No Struggle, No Progress
The Carver-McDonald Branch Library at 2941 Renwick St., Monroe, LA. and branch manager Joyce Powell, is hosting attorney and author Zebbie Grayson for a book talk and signing of her new book, Journey to the United States Supreme Court Bar! with the community, on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 10:00 AM. Attorney Zebbie A. Grayson is a Monroe, LA native. She grew up in the Booker T. community as a member of the Zion Spring Baptist Church and is a proud graduate of Carroll High School. Attorney Grayson is the daughter of the late Lubertha Bledsoe-Gipson Grayson and Zebedee Grayson. For almost 30 years, she has served in the legal arena in various capacities, including as a former felony prosecutor under Ouachita Parish District Attorney Jerry L. Jones. In that capacity, she worked with local, state, and federal law enforcement officials through Project Safe Neighborhoods, successfully prosecuting felony firearm offenders to keep our streets safe. Later, she was appointed to the public corruption team of prosecutors. Attorney Grayson started her legal career in this community as a law clerk to former Fourth Judicial District Court judges, the honorable Benjamin Jones, and the honorable Carl Van Sharp.
Through the years, her dedication to the "rule of law" has afforded her many opportunities. In 2017, she was invited to serve on a "school to prison pipeline" panel at Langston University in Tulsa, OK. There, she was awarded a Citation of Achievement from Oklahoma State Legislator, Representative Regina Goodwin, for her community and civic engagement during the Black Wallstreet commemoration. After serving almost a decade as a felony prosecutor, she has spent the last 16 years working for the executive branch of the federal government, practicing administrative law. In October 2022, she was admitted in person to the United States Supreme Court Bar. This allowed her to participate in the historical moments of our first African American woman associate justice, Ketanji Brown Jackson. She recounts this experience in her newly released memoir, Journey to the United States Supreme Court Bar, which is available online through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
