No Struggle, No Progress

Before The Fall

America does not have a king or queen who is our “head" of state. Many say that is the reason why British people fled their homeland just to get away from monarch rulers who lived like kings with all of the power and hardly anything for the little man. “No representation” they said, all the while paying taxes, but hardly anyone spoke on their behalf. We must remember, God told His people what it would cost them if they wanted a king and not Him as their provider/protector. Still they wanted a king just like the Gentiles had theirs to provide them what they needed. America does not have a king, but if one would look at the current state of affairs, there are those who don’t mind treating a certain individual as if he were a king. That person who is getting the “king” treatment from so many of his followers (subjects) is Donald Trump.

To so many of his supporters, Trump is their king. Whatever he wants or asks for, he gets it. We also have to remember that this man was the president of the United States, a position recognized worldwide even by kings and queens, carrying tremendous weight in the eyes of world leaders. While presidents walk on the grandest stage, they do so with grace and dignity, knowing they were elected by the Electoral College, not by a majority of citizens/voters. Even after leaving office, they are expected to conduct themselves with honor, dignity, and integrity in all pursuits, as if they were still in office. That was before Donald Trump was elected president. As we enter into the fourth year of President Joe Biden’s presidency and with the 2024 presidential race looming into a rematch of four years ago, one candidate has numerous dates in a courtroom, while the other candidate talks about his record while at the same time is up against a political party that wants to impeach him for something that he had no part. No matter what one might hear, there is no criminal evidence to support any impeachment charge, simply partisan politics at its ugliest. Then in the midst of all of this, we have a former president who is out selling sneakers in order to make a buck.

We have to remember that Mr. Trump is a billionaire, but that status seems to be in serious jeopardy. With two civil cases looming in the background, Mr. Trump has to come up with almost a half-billion dollars to settle the judgments against him. And since there seems to be no help coming from other billionaires who may have benefited from his presidency, no banks to lend him money, Mr. Trump is, instead of looking down on people that he calls “loser”, he is now instead looking up for any financial assistance that will come his way. Why else would he be selling sneakers (gold colored) for $399 a pop if he didn’t need the money. Many are questioning why a billionaire would ask the “little man” for money if he is so rich. Can anyone in the modern era ever remember a president who had so much power seemingly being reduced to literally holding a tin cup in his hand asking for a donation. Some are saying how the “mighty have fallen”, as a testament to those who put their faith in money/riches because it can so easily be taken away by your own actions through the court system.

Despite the troubles that Mr. Trump is facing, there are those who will send him the $399 for the sneakers if only for a keepsake to pass down to the next generation. However, one has to ask, if the economy is so bad under President Biden, how can his followers afford to pay $399 for a pair of sneakers that many say are not worth anywhere near that price. And by the same token, thousands if not a million or two of the sneakers would need to be sold just to satisfy Trump’s court judgments. The sneakers are being called “never surrender” sneakers, but when Trump was in the Fulton County jail in Georgia, he surrendered. Mr. Trump has fallen a long way since 2016 when he became president, and many are saying that it is his own fault. Some people learn a lesson when they fall from grace, but those in the religious community will not tell him that. They will continue to feed Mr. Trump’s ego, telling him and his supporters that he will be elected once again into an office for their benefit to shape America into the nation that they, not God, want it to be. Mr. Trump is convincing himself and his supporters that he somehow will be back in the White House in 2025. First, he has to stop digging the hole that he has fallen into. His pride won’t let that happen. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
