The community, along with family and friends, mourns the passing of the esteemed individual, Deacon Ricky Banks. Deacon Ricky Banks, aged 72, ascended to glory on Saturday, February 3, 2024. He dedicated his life to serving both his church as a Deacon and his community in Corrections Enforcement. A native of Monroe, LA, he received his education from the Monroe City School System. Mr. Banks devoted 44 years to Corrections, progressing from the role of Sergeant to Deputy Executive Director. Mr. Banks was a lifelong member of the Mount Olivet Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon until his health failed. Ricky is survived by his loving and devoted wife of nearly 37 years, Geraldine Buie Banks, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He also leaves behind three sons - Roland Robinson, Randall Robinson, and Rontrell Banks; one sister, Vercie Lee Jefferson; one brother, Dr. George W. Banks (Claudia); three granddaughters, Jermecia Jackson, Karija Dean, and Queona Marie Wilson; one niece, four nephews, and a host of loving cousins, great nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate Ricky's life will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, at 500 Swayze Street, in the W.L. Brannon Hall at 11:00 AM. Visitation services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, 5:30 - 7:30 PM in Monroe, LA, at Smith's Funeral Home on 907 Winnsboro Rd., where friends and family will gather to pay their respects and honor his memory.
