A suspect in a stabbing incident, Keith Franklin, a man from Port Allen, LA, faces numerous charges for his alleged criminal activities. Monroe Police (MPD) had been actively seeking Franklin after he allegedly attacked a female victim in her vehicle.
According to MPD, officers responded to a call on January 7, 2024, around 5:02 AM on Mississippi St., where the incident occurred. Court documents reveal that the victim, seated inside her work vehicle, heard what sounded like a "sizzle" from the rear of the vehicle. Officers determined that the sound was air escaping from slashed tires. When the victim rolled down the windows, Franklin allegedly began punching her head and pulling her hair. Armed with a knife, Franklin purportedly threatened to kill the victim on the premises. Officers noted defensive wounds on the victim, and punctures in the vehicle's tires confirmed they had been slashed.
Following the incident, Franklin fled the scene in a stolen vehicle, leading to a high-speed chase. Authorities apprehended him on January 10, 2024. Court documents list the charges against Franklin, including Flight from an Officer; Aggravated Flight from an Officer, Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Simple Criminal Damage to Property, and Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
