No Struggle, No Progress
Disclaimer: All persons are innocent until proven guilty. Wrongdoings, much like shadows in daylight, have a tough time staying concealed. Despite efforts to hide them, the spotlight of truth consistently exposes the hidden aspects of misconduct. On September 6, 2023, the West Monroe Police (WMPD) launched an investigation into a deeply troubling sex crime involving a 9-year-old victim, prompted by the mother's report accusing their family member, Kamerian T. Hendrix. On Monday, December 18, 2023, Hendrix came face-to-face with consequences of his actions and was arrested and charged with Indecent Behavior with Juveniles and Molestation of a Juvenile. According to court documents, officials uncovered a disturbing pattern of assaults spanning approximately four years. The victim was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center, revealing that Hendrix allegedly coerced them into performing sexual acts within their family member's Oaklawn Drive residence. Shockingly, officers discovered that Hendrix had issued a chilling threat, warning the victim that "something bad would happen" if they disclosed the assaults. The victim, enduring these horrifying acts since the age of 5 on multiple occasions and reported the latest incident in early 2023, during which Hendrix allegedly committed further sexual acts. Preserving the innocence of our children is now more critical than ever. According to research by the Darkness to Light organization, 1 in 9 girls and 1 in 53 boys under 18 experience sexual abuse or assault by adults. By protecting our youth, we strengthen our heritage, ensuring children can grow up in an environment free from the shadows of sexual abuse. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story. The Monroe Dispatch welcomes the other or another side of this story.
