Police Shooting

A man wanted by Union Parish law enforcement authorities was shot and killed by Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies. According to reports on December 10, 2023, the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office to locate an individual wanted for a homicide alleged to have occurred in the Crossroads community in Union Parish. Reports indicate that Ouachita Parish deputies found the suspect’s vehicle at his residence on Topic Drive in Monroe. When deputies were about to execute a search and arrest warrant, the suspect reportedly set his house on fire. As deputies approached, the armed suspect confronted them in the front yard with a shotgun. The report shared that the suspect fired at the deputies, prompting them to return fire. Following the shooting, the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, with no reported injuries among the deputies. As of press time, the suspect remains unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing. Due to this officer-involved shooting, the Northeast Louisiana Sheriff’s Investigative Unit (NLSIU) is handling the investigation. Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.
