Lenward Bowie Sr. Unforeseen Farewell

Lenward Bowie Sr. was born in Monroe, LA, on August 9, 1948, to the late Abraham H. Bowie Sr. and Corrine Crosby Bowie. Both parents, brothers Abraham Bowie Jr., Alberstine Bowie, Samuel Douglas, brother-in-law Nathaniel Mitchell, and sister-in-law Bobbie Bowie preceded him in death. At an early age, he accepted Christ and was baptized at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Monroe, LA. Lenward and Flora Ann Joiner-Bowie were joined in Holy Matrimony on January 2, 1982. He was an active church member, serving as a choir member and deacon.

Lenward attended Little Flower Academy and Richwood High School, studying architecture at Grambling State University. Employed and retired from Guided Corporation, he enjoyed a life that included fishing, golf, and spending time with family. Lenward went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 30, 2023. Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of 41 years, Flora Joiner-Joiner Bowie; two sisters - Ramon Mitchell of Carmillo, CA, Sandra Nance of Las Vegas, NV; four children - Lenward K Bowie Jr. of Las Vegas, NV, Shannon Gaines (Roger) of Baton Rouge, LA, Corean Pleas (LaWanda) of Manko, MN, Tiffaney E. Ross (Marico) of Monroe LA, and a host of grandchildren including Brittiany N. Pleas, Cornelius Thurman of Monroe, LA, She'askie Mayes of Oklahoma City, OK; nephew Eric Bowie Sr. (Anona); three special cousins, Margaret Bowie Thompson (Roy) of Shreveport, LA, Richard Bowie Jr. of Monroe, LA, Titus Bowie of Atascocita, TX, and a host of family and friends.

To God be the Glory for the Life and Legacy of Deacon Lenward Bowie, Sr. Visitation at 10:00 AM, and funeral services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Mt. Zion Baptist Baptist, 211 Mt. Zion St. in Monroe, LA. Services entrusted to Smith Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
