No Struggle, No Progress

What's in a Promise?

No one holds you to your word better than a kid who remembers a promise. Maybe that's how God intended things to be because kids come along and keep us honest if we allow them. As I have gotten older, I have realized what is truly in a promise. Many years ago, I made a significant promise to someone.

I was a young adult at the time, but I understood what I promised, and I meant it. What I did not know, however, was that the person I made a vow to would come to me two years later, looking for me to fulfill my word. When the time came, I acquiesced and began fulfilling my promise. I continue to do my best to fulfill that promise today; it has not always been easy, but it is not always hard. Most times, I find joy in my heart, reminding myself that I am keeping a promise to someone who truly needs me and that somehow gives me the gas to continue when days are difficult. What I have seen in this season is how honoring that promise has brought unexpected blessings that I never saw coming. My eyes have witnessed the type of authority that comes from a promise that God honors. God truly does see your efforts when they come from the right place. It brings Him great joy when we honor ourselves and Him by keeping our word. Remember to make promises with thoughtful consideration. Your word is your bond!
