No Struggle, No Progress

"I STILL AIN'T THERE YET "

(The Confession Poem)

As we embrace the hope that a new day brings and anticipate the blessings that we have prayed and prepared for, we must be mindful of those things that may hinder us from receiving what we are expecting to happen in our lives. I call these things "The Blessing Blockers". One of the biggest and most common "Blessing Blocker" is our unwillingness to acknowledge those areas where we fall short of God's glory and walk contrary to His word. Whenever we petition or approach the throne of Grace, in addition to first thanking The Most High for His blessings and honoring Him for who He is, we must be willing to admit our faults. The old folks used to say that confession is good for the soul. They knew that the admittance of a fault is the first step toward correcting behaviors that separate us from the power that God makes available which enables us to overcome and conquer the challenges we face. The poem I’m offering for this week’s column is designed to help us to acknowledge and admit that we are flawed and lack the strength and wisdom needed to become our best selves and live our best lives. The hope and plan of the Most High is that we will eventually become more like Him after withstanding the storms of life which builds our character while shaping us more into His likeness.
