No Struggle, No Progress
On Monday, October 6, 2023 around 11:00 AM, my dental assistant, Jesse, informed me that I had a visitor at the front desk. He then went on to say that he was a very important looking person. I then inquired, "What's his name?" to which he replied Michael Thompson. He said, "What should I do? Should I tell him you are coming?" I replied, "Hurry and go get him and bring him to the back." This moment will forever be imprinted on both my heart and mind. It's the moment in time when God visited me through a human vessel and reinforced in me that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are perfect. His ways are love, and those who call on His name should act like Him. Michael Thompson did not have to come to my office. We had already exchanged pleasantries. I had already texted him "Congratulations" and he had already responded "Thank you so much." He could have gloated and been so self-satisfied because he won. He had been re-elected and had defeated his opponents. But he did not do that. Earlier that Monday morning, we had both awakened with a strong sense to connect. I thought, "I needed to call him and set up a lunch date." He said he had told his wife that he couldn't let the day go by without connecting with me... and he did. He came bearing gifts, miniature yellow roses for friendship and strength and black and red balloons, including the most gorgeous red Mylar rose balloon representing my campaign colors. My heart was touched by his kind gesture, and I am honored to know him as both my Police Juror and my friend. We all won that day. District D has a kind, caring, considerate Police Juror who has the ability to expand and extend for the welfare of his constituents. His humility will take him a long way. He will continue to grow in grace and wisdom with God on his side. May the blessings of our Lord be with him in his term and with his family!
