No Struggle, No Progress
It happened again. The nation of Israel came under attack allegedly from the terrorist group Hamas by a barrage of rockets and other artillery that shocked the world on how the attack was carried out. The attack caught the nation’s leaders completely off guard, though one would find it difficult for senior leaders to admit that. However military experts believe that there was a failure by the Israeli intelligence community to “see” the signs that an imminent attack was going to occur soon. Experts say that the amount of military hardware used and the precision in the way the attack was carried out, showed that those responsible went through weeks if not months of planning before unleashing one of the worst attacks in recent memory. Since the attack, Israel has responded militarily, but the death toll as of press time has climbed and is made worse by hostages being taken. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who is once again the leader of Israel is known for his hardline conservative stance, finds himself in a difficult position on how he hopes the conflict will end. As Israeli leaders decide their next move, there is no shortage of support from American leaders expressing their outrage over the attack. America has long supported Israel since its independence both in words and material things. It is because of America, that it can be said that Israel has one of the most advanced militaries in the world in terms of equipment and intelligence resources. Even in the face of human misery, there are those who wish to exploit political gain with the goal of taking back the White House. While there has been condemnation from both sides of the aisle, criticism of President Joe Biden and his reaction or lack thereof did not go unnoticed. Under the circumstances, there is not much that President Biden can do. He can only follow Netanyu’s lead. America did not get attacked, but can only monitor what is happening on the ground. War has been declared by Israel against Hamas with the potential that it could expand into neighboring countries in the region. As developments continue in the weeks ahead, America still has issues to settle such as electing a new Speaker of the House. Instead of concentrating on that and other issues, Republican Sen. Josh Hawley (MO), on Fox News was critical of President Biden hosting a BBQ event at the White House for Executive Residence Staff and their families. There was a live band for entertainment, but as far as Hawley was concerned, Biden should have canceled the event. Never mind the fact that the event had been planned way in advance, Hawley wanted to attack Biden as being “insensitive” to the suffering of the Israelis during the attack. It was as if Biden didn’t care, but also Democrats/liberals as a whole. How could Biden and others enjoy themselves while rockets are falling on people’s heads? Perhaps the same way that millions of Americans both CONSERVATIVE and LIBERAL attended dozens of colleges and professional football games over the weekend sitting next to each other in the stands or tailgating before the games. Did Fox Sports pre-empt the games for non-stop coverage of the war? Did the House come back from vacation to address the urgent matter by meeting with President Biden to show that America “stands” with Israel? No, no, no. It was fake hypocrisy from of all places Fox News, as sports brings in advertising dollars and of people having a good time. While the focus was on Israel, there was not as much attention paid to the thousands of lives lost in an earthquake in Afghanistan. There were no rocket attacks or hostage-taking, but the human loss and suffering are the same. One was man-made while the other was natural. Hawley and other Republicans didn’t care about the Afghan people, as their nation is of no “strategic” or carries no “national security” importance. Human suffering should never be minimized, but the declaration of war by Israel and the earthquake only points to what the scriptures (Matt. 24:6-8) teach us. We are aware of the history of the world and how things will play out. Don’t be like the hypocrite. Remember, the world is watching. So is God.
