Law enforcement officials responded to a shooting that left a man dead inside the town limits of Jonesboro, LA, according to an incident report released by the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Department. According to the Sheriff's Department, a report of homicide was made on Friday, October 6, 2023, by another motorist is extremely alarming, especially if traveling at night or early morning. A couple were victims of a shooting that occurred over the weekend. The October 7, 2023 shooting claimed the life of 30-year-old Devontre Jackson, according to the Jackson Parish Sheriff's office. A female identified as 32-year-old Roxanne Coleman, who was with Jackson, was also shot during the incident. The sheriff's office said the shooting happened on Hwy 167 between North Hodge and Quit- man around 1:35 AM in the morning. The report further stated that the couple was shot at while driving along Hwy 167. Jackson was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders arrived from a gunshot wound. Law enforcement said that Coleman was transported to a hospital and was in stable condition. Devontre Jackson has Monroe ties as a former student at Wossman High School in Monroe, LA.
Though no suspect has been apprehended as of press time, the sheriff's office said that they currently have a strong person of interest.
