No Struggle, No Progress
Ronald "Count Sigg" Siggal, one of Monroe's favorite sons, is coming home in October 2023 to attend the 2nd Grambling Band Reunion, but he is coming to Monroe for a much greater, more historical reason. Ronnie believes Jesus has blessed him with a song about the world-famous Grambling State University marching Tiger band. The title of this song is "Get Up For The Marching Tigers." The song will be arranged in Monroe, LA at Carroll High School, by Desaree and Timothy Player, Band Directors of Carroll High and Carroll Jr. High Schools, Tommy Vanburen, CHS class of 1970, Brett Smith - GSUMT, FD Guyton - GSUMT, Ellerick Hubbard -GSUMT, Reginal Brown -GSUMT, Tommy Todd -GSUMT, Luchies Bolden- GSUMT, and Kenneth RayHill-GSUMT, to name a few. All were members of the Grambling Marching Tigers, and most were also graduates from Carroll High School, under one of the greatest high school band directors, Mr. D. I. Andrews, who was a great songwriter and always encouraged his music students to write music. This song is about the very beginning of the Grambling State University band and Mr. Conrad Hutchinson Jr.'s quest to have the greatest marching band in the world, and the year that he saw, with his own eyes, and heard with his own ears, on the practice field at Grambling State University, that band. Carroll High is mentioned within the song, too, and used as an example of how this song can be performed by all of the world's elementary schools, jr. high schools, high schools, colleges, and universities. Just change the name of the school and the mascot from, "Get Up For The Marching Tigers", to, "Get Up For The Marching Bulldogs", so easy!
