Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A local man who allegedly made threats to kill the mother of a woman with whom he was in a relationship was arrested recently. Monroe Police were summoned to a residence on Malvern St. in Monroe, LA, on July 23, 2023, regarding a possible hostage situation. Officers were also told that a shooting may have taken place at the residence. When officers arrived, they were advised by the mother of the daughter, who was thought to be held hostage by the alleged suspect, identified as 32-year-old Teddy Deyun Marshall. The mother advised officers that they allegedly received threatening text messages and calls from the suspect, stating that he was going to kill the victim's mother.
According to police reports, officers were advised that when the parents went to the residence to check on their daughter, Marshall allegedly shot at the parents. Marshall was still inside the residence when officers arrived, and after hearing from the parents concerning the situation, officers gave loud verbal commands for Marshall to exit the residence, a procedure officers use in order to bring a tense situation to a peaceful conclusion. Officers said that Marshall eventually came out towards the police after being urged to exit the residence. He was arrested, and after further investigation, officers said they noticed a suspected fresh bullet hole through the front door. Marshall was charged with Aggravated Domestic Abuse Battery, Illegal Use of Weapons, and Aggravated Assault. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story.
