Home Invasion Nightmare

Disclaimer: All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An Ouachita Parish woman is suffering consequences for allegedly letting her emotions get the better of her. According to a report from the West Monroe Police Department, officers were called to Gulpha Drive in reference to a break-in in progress. While en route, officers were advised that the suspect was inside the residence. Upon arrival, a Black female wearing a white shirt and black shorts ran down the stairs. The subject ran to the side of the building and jumped in a white SUV, officers said. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was identified as Journei Boyd. According to police, Boyd advised that she found out that her boyfriend was inside the residence with another woman, and she just "lost it". Boyd said that she located the female resident in the bathroom and tried to get her. Boyd allegedly advised that she knew what she planned to do to the female. Boyd stated that someone yelled that the police were on the way, and she ran out of the apartment.

Officers made contact with the victim, and the victim advised them that she was in bed with her boyfriend when Boyd showed up, beating on the door. The victim told officers that Boyd went to her car and started doing something, messing with her car for a few minutes, and came back to the apartment. According to the report, Boyd allegedly beat on the window until it broke. The victim advised that she was in the bathroom on the phone with police, telling Boyd that they(police) were on their way to the apartment. Officers said that a witness to the incident advised them that Boyd allegedly went into the victim's vehicle, as the victim would check her vehicle. The witness also provided a video of Boyd allegedly in the vehicle dressed in a white shirt and black shorts. Officers would learn later after the victim called back, telling them that she realized her car's back window was broken. An officer returned to the scene and confirmed that the window had been hit with something and was broken. Boyd was charged with Home Invasion, Burglary, Simple from Motor Vehicle, and Simple Criminal Damage to Property charges. There are three sides to every story. This was one side of this story.
