Centenarian Minnie Lee Percy Spears 101 Years

Centenarian Minnie Spears transitioned to her new home on Saturday June 24, 2023, God called her name and she quietly answered. She was blessed to have lived a happy 101 years here on earth but now it was time to move to her new home with her creator. She was the daughter of the late Will and Susie Percy Miss Minnie Spears was loved by all who knew her and welcome everyone to her home. She wore many names, Sister Spears, Mama Minnie, Aunt Minnie and Mrs. Minnie. A native of Richland Parish being born in Holly Ridge LA, Mrs. Minnie was reared on the Chapman Place in Archibald LA until her parents purchased their land. After finishing 8th grade, she married and moved to Chicago IL. Eventually Mrs. Minnie returned to Louisiana where she met and married the late Mr. George Spears. Mrs. Minnie was very fashionable and wore beautiful suits and hats. Mrs. Minnie was baptized and was a lifetime active member of Holly Ridge, Baptist Church. She sang in the choir and taught children's Sunday school. She loved Sunday School and even at the age of 101 she was still reading her Sunday School lesson. My visits to Mrs. Minnie 's home was always enjoyable. I looked forward to her sharing her life experiences. Mrs. Minnie was an honoree at the Juneteenth Celebration June 19, 2023 in Rayville LA at the Rayville Rosenwald Eula D. Britton Alumni Center When someone you love because of a memory; the memory becomes a treasure. Mrs. Minnie's homegoing services are Saturday July 1, 2023 at 2pm at Holly Ridge Baptist Church in Holly Ridge LA. Wake and visitation is Friday June 30 from 3 to 7pm at Tennant Mortuary in Rayville LA. Mrs. Annie S. Staten
