No Struggle, No Progress
I got the chance to meet many amazing people during a time in my corporate career. There were many hardworking and educated people who wanted to do their best and represent the company well. As I type this, their names and faces come to mind. Jane Nishita was one person I have never met but will never forget. Jane worked as a management representative for the company in northwest America. We only interacted via phone or email as frequently as once a week for over a year. From our first interaction, she was considerate yet steady with what needed to be accomplished.
Each message I received from her always felt as if I found her with a smile on her face. Jane always presented thoughtful solutions with the perfect temperament whenever there was a possibility for conflict. Whenever people did not listen to or receive her suggestions, she would not get upset but just find money elsewhere in her budget to take care of the underprivileged communities she served. She found ways to uplift everyone when the job and our roles became heavy, and she even thoughtfully got my boss and me a gift from her visit to see family in Hawaii. Ending a call, we exchanged tropical travel stories, and she remembered one thing we had each mentioned.
I recognized and saw Jane for who she is because I am her. Jane reminded me to walk into every room with positivity, be authentically me, always show kindness, and share important feedback directly.
I encourage you to look into your communities and find your Jane. Find someone who does what they are put on this earth to do so well, they are unforgettable. Everything they do is done with thoughtful pride.
