We are all the by-products of the actions of a man and a woman. After birth, we can't take care of ourselves, as our very survival depends on those who will care for us until we can walk, talk, feed ourselves, and adapt to our surroundings. As we grow older, our minds and bodies undergo an amazing transformation, but we still need those who brought us into the world, especially our mothers. Some can adapt quickly, while others take a little more time. A 9-year-old girl called the police recently after she was left home alone by her mother. According to Monroe Police, officers were summoned on June 9, 2023, around 9:43 AM to the Parkview Apartments on Richwood Street due to a welfare concern. Police alleged officers spoke to the 9-year-old, who said she couldn't get in touch with her mother. The child allegedly told officers that her mother, who identifies as 41-year-old Tiffany McClain, had been away from the apartment since about 7:00 AM that morning. Being home alone, the child said that she was afraid, as she had not heard from her mother since she left the apartment. While officers were with the child, they were allegedly told by the child that her mother allegedly smoked a marijuana cigarette with her before leaving. It may have been more disheartening for officers to hear that the mother also allegedly frequently smoked marijuana with the child. Officers said that McClain returned to the premises around 10:41 AM, where she was questioned about her whereabouts. According to MPD, after McClain was read her rights, she said she went "to get groceries", and left the child under the supervision of another female. When the female was contacted, officers said that she "had no knowledge" that she was supposed to be watching the child. With the information that officers learned, McClain was taken into custody and transported to (OCC) Ouachita Correctional Center. McClain was charged with Cruelty to Juveniles and CDS in the Presence of Persons under 17. That's not the way the movies turned out. We may be creatures of our environment, but we don't create them as a child.
