Our goal is to advocate awareness, show support, and bring recognition to the many lupus warriors in our community living with this mysterious disease.
According to the lupus foundation of America, there are 1.5 million Americans living with lupus, and there is an estimate of 16,000 new cases reported each year. Among people of color who are affected with lupus, studies have shown that African –American men and women have the highest incidence rate for the disease.
“Although lupus is a genetic disease, we know that people with lupus can take steps to manage their disease and prevent or minimize its effects. That is why we created this walk, to bring awareness and empowerment to those in our community about lupus and ways to support the cause,” says Jonee’ Williams founder of Kount Teens 2 Mentor.
